Who is &Partners and why do you work with them?
&Partners is our broker-dealer and investment adviser platform, the firm through which we offer securities and advisory services. They are a dually registered broker-dealer and registered investment adviser, founded by a team of seasoned professionals from some of the most respected firms in the industry. What sets &Partners apart is their commitment to an advisor-owned model, institutional-quality investment research, and a concierge-level support structure with no call centers and no bureaucracy. Custody of your assets is handled by National Financial Services LLC (NFS), a Fidelity company, one of the industry’s most trusted custodians. We work with &Partners because their values align with ours: putting clients first, operating with full transparency, and delivering advice without conflict.
Where is my money held?
Your money and investments are held at National Financial Services LLC (NFS), a Fidelity company. Madison Reserve Wealth Management, &Partners and Fidelity work together to safekeep your assets. We advise on your accounts; NFS holds them.
My advisors moved to &Partners. What happens to my money?
The same advisors and the same client associates continue to manage your accounts, and your assets stay custodied at Fidelity’s NFS. What changes is the platform behind us, which supports services we could not previously offer, including tax-efficient planning.
Are Ed Andrews and John McKenna retiring?
No. Ed Andrews and John McKenna are both actively working with clients at Madison Reserve Wealth Management and have no plans to step back. Ed has been in this office thirty years and John has been in the business forty. The move to &Partners was made so the practice could do more, and both of them made it with the rest of the team.
How much money do I need to work with you?
Most of the households we work with have around $1 million or more in investable assets, though fit matters more to us than a threshold. If we are not the right practice for your situation, we will say so.
When can I retire?
The answer depends more on what you spend than on what you have saved. We model the date against your spending, your Social Security timing and your tax picture, then test it against poor markets. You leave with a date and the assumptions behind it, and we revisit both as your life changes.
What happens in the first meeting?
We spend it understanding your life rather than reviewing your statements. No recommendations are made in a first meeting. You should leave knowing how we work and what we would look at first.
How are you paid?
We are compensated through fees on the assets we manage and, where applicable, through commissions on certain products, in our capacity as registered representatives of &Partners. Being paid both ways creates a conflict of interest we are required to disclose. Our Form CRS sets it out in full, and you see exactly how we are paid before you engage us.
Can you help with taxes?
Yes. Tax-efficient planning is part of our work, including withdrawal sequencing, Roth conversion analysis, charitable giving strategy and planning around the income-related Medicare surcharge, known as IRMAA. We are not accountants and do not file returns, and we work alongside yours.
Neither Madison Reserve Wealth Management nor &Partners renders legal or tax advice. Please consult your tax or legal advisors before taking any action that may have tax consequences.
